The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Isfahan of 102 × 160 cm. It covers approximately 1.63 m², or 3.3' × 5.2'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
What it is made of
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
