The piece in short
A Isfahan from Iran, measuring 106 × 146 cm. That is roughly 1.55 m² of floor, about 3.5' × 4.8'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
