Overview
This Isfahan comes from Iran and measures 133 × 200 cm. That is roughly 2.66 m² of floor, about 4.4' × 6.6'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
What it is made of
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
