Overview
A Isfahan from Iran, measuring 85 × 130 cm. It covers approximately 1.11 m², or 2.8' × 4.3'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% silk. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
