Overview
Origin Iran, format 350 × 230 cm — a Kashan made entirely by hand. That is roughly 8.05 m² of floor, about 11.5' × 7.5'.
Materials and construction
The pile is Handgesponnene Wolle, on a warp of cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 30 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
Age and condition
Stated age: antique. In a rug of this age, patina and some pile loss belong to the picture.
