At a glance
Origin Iran, format 365 × 256 cm — a Kerman made entirely by hand. That is roughly 9.34 m² of floor, about 12' × 8.4'. Kerman is associated with soft colour transitions and floral compositions.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as approx. 8 mm. Weight is given as ap. 30 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age and condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
