Overview
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 100 × 153 cm. The covered area is about 1.53 m² (3.3' × 5'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. This size typically covers the floor in front of a seating group.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
