The piece in short

Origin Iran, format 133 × 204 cm — a Nain made entirely by hand. That is roughly 2.71 m² of floor, about 4.4' × 6.7'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.

Materials and construction

The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.

The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.

On the colourway

Colour is recorded as Weiß / beige. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
