The piece in short

A Nain from Iran, measuring 161 × 232 cm. It covers approximately 3.74 m², or 5.3' × 7.6'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.

Materials and construction

The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.

Knot density and quality

The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

How it reads

Colour is recorded as Weiß / beige. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
