Overview
Origin Iran, format 170 × 257 cm — a Nain made entirely by hand. That is roughly 4.37 m² of floor, about 5.6' × 8.4'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
