The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 207 × 307 cm. It covers approximately 6.35 m², or 6.8' × 10.1'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
The stated colourway is red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
