The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 215 × 304 cm. That is roughly 6.54 m² of floor, about 7.1' × 10'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Size and placement
Large enough to hold a full seating group.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is blue / Türkis. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
