Overview
A Nain from Iran, measuring 248 × 245 cm. The covered area is about 6.08 m² (8.1' × 8'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
