Overview
A Nain from Iran, measuring 254 × 352 cm. That is roughly 8.94 m² of floor, about 8.3' × 11.5'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is black and grey. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
