Overview
Origin Iran, format 61 × 97 cm — a Nain made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 0.59 m², or 2' × 3.2'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
What it is made of
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
