At a glance
A Nain from Iran, measuring 80 × 135 cm. The covered area is about 1.08 m² (2.6' × 4.4'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
What it is made of
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
