Overview
Origin Iran, format 81 × 210 cm — a Nain made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 1.7 m², or 2.7' × 6.9'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
