The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 82 × 119 cm. The covered area is about 0.98 m² (2.7' × 3.9'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
