Overview
Origin Iran, format 170 × 107 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 1.82 m² (5.6' × 3.5'). Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Construction
Construction: wool in the pile over a cotton foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap. 6 kg.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is Weiß / beige. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
