The piece in short
Origin Iran, format 201 × 132 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. That is roughly 2.65 m² of floor, about 6.6' × 4.3'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Construction
The pile is silk, on a warp of Kunstseide. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age and condition
Stated condition: Neu.
