Overview
Origin Iran, format 325 × 210 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. That is roughly 6.83 m² of floor, about 10.7' × 6.9'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Construction
Construction: wool in the pile over a cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 18 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
