Overview
Origin Iran, format 60 × 90 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 0.54 m², or 2' × 3'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Materials and construction
Stated material: silk, Seidenkette.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 1,000,000+ knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
