The piece in short
A Qom from Iran, measuring 80 × 57 cm. That is roughly 0.46 m² of floor, about 2.6' × 1.9'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Construction
Construction: Handgesponnene Wolle in the pile over a cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 2 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Condition
Stated condition: Neu.
