About this rug
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Qom of 82 × 121 cm. The covered area is about 0.99 m² (2.7' × 4'). Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Materials and construction
Construction: 100% silk in the pile over a 100% silk foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
