Overview
Origin Iran, format 98 × 70 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 0.69 m² (3.2' × 2.3'). Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
What it is made of
Pile material is given as Handgesponnene Wolle, warp as cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 2 kg.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under multicolour. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
