A Shiraz from Iran, measuring 167 × 266 cm. That is roughly 4.44 m² of floor, about 5.5' × 8.7'. Shiraz rugs come from a nomadic weaving tradition.
What it is made of
Stated material: new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
