Overview
A Shiraz from Iran, measuring 183 × 268 cm. That is roughly 4.9 m² of floor, about 6' × 8.8'. Shiraz rugs come from a nomadic weaving tradition.
Construction
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
