About this rug
A Tabriz from India, measuring 203 × 298 cm. The covered area is about 6.05 m² (6.7' × 9.8'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
