Hand-knotted in India: a Tabriz of 345 × 250 cm. It covers approximately 8.63 m², or 11.3' × 8.2'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
The pile is Wolle mit Bamboo Seide, on a warp of cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 30 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as black and grey. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
