Overview
Origin Iran, format 100 × 160 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. That is roughly 1.6 m² of floor, about 3.3' × 5.2'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
