About this rug
This Tabriz comes from Iran and measures 191 × 78 cm. That is roughly 1.49 m² of floor, about 6.3' × 2.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
The pile is wool, silk, on a warp of cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap.6kg.
Where it fits
A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
Condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
