The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 200 × 150 cm. That is roughly 3 m² of floor, about 6.6' × 4.9'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Stated material: Korkwolle&Seide auf Seide. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as black and grey. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
