Overview
Origin Iran, format 200 × 295 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. That is roughly 5.9 m² of floor, about 6.6' × 9.7'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is multicolour. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
