Overview
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 201 × 304 cm. It covers approximately 6.11 m², or 6.6' × 10'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Format and use
At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². This knot density balances pattern definition against hard-wearing construction.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
