At a glance
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 205 × 305 cm. It covers approximately 6.25 m², or 6.7' × 10'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as black and grey. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
