The piece in short
Origin Iran, format 250 × 348 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 8.7 m² (8.2' × 11.4'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under red and orange. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
