Overview
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 251 × 342 cm. The covered area is about 8.58 m² (8.2' × 11.2'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
