Overview
Origin Iran, format 290 × 200 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 5.8 m², or 9.5' × 6.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Construction: wool in the pile over a cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 18 kg.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under Braun / Gelb. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
Condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
