At a glance
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 75 × 130 cm. That is roughly 0.98 m² of floor, about 2.5' × 4.3'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
