Origin Iran, format 77 × 123 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. That is roughly 0.95 m² of floor, about 2.5' × 4'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.

Where it fits

The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

On the colourway

It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
