The piece in short
This Tabriz comes from Iran and measures 84 × 299 cm. The covered area is about 2.51 m² (2.8' × 9.8'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Size and placement
A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
