At a glance
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 85 × 127 cm. The covered area is about 1.08 m² (2.8' × 4.2'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% silk. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is multicolour. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
