Overview
Origin Iran, format 255 × 255 cm — a Bijar made entirely by hand. That is roughly 6.5 m² of floor, about 8.4' × 8.4'.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 12 mm. Weight is given as approx. 30 kg.
Format and use
The rug is square. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
