The piece in short
A Kilim from Afghanistan, measuring 198 × 151 cm. The covered area is about 2.99 m² (6.5' × 5').
Construction
Construction: wool in the weft over a wool foundation. Construction method: hand-woven. Weight is given as ap. 6 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. This size typically covers the floor in front of a seating group.
Weave
Because it is woven rather than knotted, the structure is flat and usable on both sides.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Condition
Stated condition: Neu.
