The piece in short

Origin Iran, format 103 × 150 cm — a Nain made entirely by hand. That is roughly 1.55 m² of floor, about 3.4' × 4.9'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.

Materials and construction

The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

On the colourway

It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
