Overview
Origin Iran, format 105 × 151 cm — a Nain made entirely by hand. That is roughly 1.59 m² of floor, about 3.4' × 5'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
This size typically covers the floor in front of a seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
