About this rug
A Nain from Iran, measuring 140 × 70 cm. That is roughly 0.98 m² of floor, about 4.6' × 2.3'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
What it is made of
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 8 mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
The stated colourway is blue / Türkis. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
