At a glance
A Nain from Iran, measuring 212 × 297 cm. That is roughly 6.3 m² of floor, about 7' × 9.7'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as Weiß / beige. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
