Overview
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 310 × 200 cm. It covers approximately 6.2 m², or 10.2' × 6.6'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
Stated material: 100% wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 12 mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
