Overview
A Nain from Iran, measuring 81 × 118 cm. The covered area is about 0.96 m² (2.7' × 3.9'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
